Marlborough, Massachusetts, first settled in 1657 and officially incorporated in 1660, was established to accommodate the expanding needs of its residents for family and livestock land. The site selection was strategically made along what was initially called the Great Trail, later renamed the King’s Highway and now known as Route 20.
